Web and Computer Resources (especially for Beginners)There are only 216 colors that look the same no matter which browser you're using or whether you're on a Mac, PC or UNIX system. This is a handy tool to view those colors and their codes! Article from the San Jose Mercury News: part one (PDF) January 1, 2001. Discussion/interview with Tim Berners-Lee about current Web issues. Part two of Mercury News article (PDF) More from the World Wide Web Consortium, Jan. 1, 2001. More information about browsers (PDF) This document has a bunch of information about Web browsers. First, there are current statistics on numbers of people now using various browsers. (Though we need to keep in mind that high-tech companies typically have a higher percentage of UNIX users than Internet users as a whole; we certainly do!) There is also information about alternative browsers, including the World Wide Web Consortium's own browser, Amaya. Finally, there's an interesting article from The Economist about PDA's/handheld devices and how they might change the browser picture. Note: Most of the documents on this site require the use of Adobe Acrobat Reader. You can download it from the Adobe site. |
